Having run a fantastic PB of 13.61s to qualify for the final of the Norwich Union England Championships and World Junior Trails, Gemma Werrett wowed the crowd by stopping the clock at a sensational 13.32s, just inside the Scottish Senior Record that had stood for 24 years.

Unfortunately for Gemma the wind was just over the legal limit at 2.4m/s but the run still represented a huge improvement on her consistent 13.7 performances over the past several weeks. Gemma became Down-Right Speed’s second U23 AAA champions following in the footsteps of last years 200m winner Katherine Jones.Despite the terrible winds, Down-Right had a successful weekend with Kylie Russell putting on a great show in the 100m. Kylie got an outstanding start and pulled away from the competition only to fade to 3rd in the final 5m to finish 0.01 behind second and first place!
In the Men’s 200m Paul Judson improved upon his 7th place finish in 2007 to come a respectable 5th, taking the scalp of rival Somoto Eruchi who finished 6th.
